Artist Bio
I get a little embarrassed talking about myself on the internet, which is ironic because I am apparently very comfortable with showing the work I do on this publicly accessible website. Suffice to say, I love art, and I’ve made it my livelihood for a decade now. Graphic design, traditional art projects, hobbyist types, I’ve dabbled in just about anything. My college focus was graphic design, I have worked in the printing industry as a typesetter and in the advertising and sales industry as a graphic designer, and I also take on freelance projects such as webdesign projects for local businesses. I am currently continuing my education at West Virginia State University, where I’m pursuing a masters in Media Studies.
Why “Mott”? “Mott” is short for my last name, “Mottesheard”. It’s a very long name and most people have a hard time reading it and pronouncing it correctly, and in the art world that’s not helpful in promoting yourself. Most artists usually create a short tag-name for themselves so their signature on art is short, simple, and doesn’t take attention away from the art itself. Mottfolio is the name I use for this site and the work I do, and is a play on the word “portfolio”. Not too crazy, but hopefully memorable.
So if you’re interested in any of my works and you’d like to commission me for a project, or perhaps you’d just like to contact me with any questions, please fell free to send me an email at mottesheard@gmail.com, or you can contact me directly by phone (304) 807-9640.
