Whenever I need to clear my mind in order to work more efficiently on my commission work, I take what I call a “sketch break” where I sketch or draw something that is not related in any way to my current commissions. This basically the artistic equivalent of a smoke break or coffee break, and lets my brain stretch out a bit and refresh itself. In today’s sketch break I ended up ‘sketching’ completely on Adobe Illustrator, this time using almost exclusively the shape tools. If you look closely enough at the resulting illustration below, you’ll notice the geometric shapes that I used! I am most likely going to turn this into a series of prints or greeting cards (possibly post cards as well) and if folks would like I can also make a b/w line-art version to color.
